The idea behind the project was simple enough in principle but far harder to execute. The harsh weather of the region meant that the new home needed the right insulation and an air circulation system that kept the interiors fresh while keeping the heat indoors.

A simple garden and a porch-style atrium lead you to the glass foyer that contains the entrance to both the stone- and cedar-clad wings of the home.
Large glass windows also offer spectacular views of the city while a splendid green wall becomes the star of the show in the moody dining room. Since it was designed to fit the sleek lifestyle of its single homeowner low-maintenance decor and finishing were key aspects that defined the many choices made inside the loft home.
A stylish dining space with iconic Panton S Chairs sits next to it and leads toward the kitchen and the expansive rear garden. It is here that one finds the lovely outdoor lounge barbecue area wooden pool deck and of course the green backyard.
A modular sofa in the living room an eclectic blend of chairs in the dining room and a delightful window with multi-colored brilliance in the stairwell delight and surprise you. The lower level of the residence contains the public areas while the top floor houses the kids’ bedrooms along with the master bedroom and bathrooms.
This tranquil floating home may just be a concept but we hope that Singapore-based architect Dymitr Malcewcan brings his vision to life soon. We can certainly picture ourselves taking advantage of its giant glass walls open concept kitchen and living room and out-of-this-world roof terrace.
