Sarah and Kimo Bertram’s admiral blue maritime home in Mission Creek San Francisco was designed by Robert Nebolon Architects and built by contractor Bart Elmer with many of the same kinds of covetable architectural elements you’d find on land. Despite its liquid foundation the house’s double-level main living space features large dramatic windows that allow homeowners to soak in those baby blue water views.
The color scheme is kept largely neutral but with a masculine twist and the lighting adds to the dark sophisticated vibe indoors. Unique furniture pieces crafted by Igor Martin for HIS add to the style of the apartment even as cleverly placed splashes of yellow give it a more pleasant and inviting look. With a dramatic contemporary bathroom and a beautiful bedroom flanked by a home workspace on one side and a walk-in wardrobe on the other this is a bachelor pad that any guy would be proud to call his own.
When it comes to providing backdrops ranging from the serene to the stunning few cities come close to the charm of lovely. Located in one of its heritage suburbs the Residence combines a hint of colonial vibe with a breezy industrial palette and plenty of contemporary comfort.
Concrete plays a pivotal role in shaping the house and giving it a refined industrial style even as a cedar-clad accent wall offers visual contrast and inviting warmth. A spiral staircase leads to the top level that holds the kids’ rooms on one side and the master suite on the other connected by a concrete and glass bridge.
Adding to the sheen of the steel façade are framed accent panels in perforated aluminum clad in bright red. The entry of the renovated home also features a tinge of red while the living area bedrooms and bathrooms showcase smart red accents. This creates a visual connection between the interior and the exterior despite the use of contrasting materials. Split into three levels the lowest floor houses a rental while the top two levels make up the owner’s duplex. The second level contains the living area kitchen dining space and home office / TV room of the duplex and the top floor houses the master suite along with additional bedrooms and bathrooms.
